How does the Fortnight Network operate?
A common utilization of Fortnight's Network is a search for a solution to a specific problem. This search occurs in several steps: (move your mouse over each number in sequence)

A Fortnight Associate works closely on-site with the client to form a carefully crafted description of their problem (called a Request). This description has sufficient detail for the members of our Network to propose salient solutions while still protecting the identity and intellectual capital of the client.

Once the client and Fortnight are fully satisfied with the wording of the Request, it is posted on Fortnight's secure web server and invitations are distributed to our Experts. At the client's discretion, Experts in certain fields or working for certain employers may be excluded from viewing some Requests to reduce any potential conflicts of interest.

Experts log into Fortnight's secure server and review the Request and fill in an on-line form describing a Lead to any potential Solution Providers. Leads are not necessarily new ideas (although they could be), but more frequently will be old ideas applied in new or extraordinary ways. A Lead may be as concrete as the contact information for a company who provides the solution as its primary business, or as abstract as concepts which currently reside only in university research labs, and everything in between.

Fortnight Associates rank each Lead according to a variety of criteria (including, but not limited to: suitability to the given problem, availability of the solution, time frame for application, past experience with the Solution Provider and the Expert, and others). The most promising subset of these Leads are presented to the sponsoring client and result in a financial reward to the corresponding Experts.

Occasionally, this ranked list may be sufficient information for the client. But more often, they will require greater details of the effectiveness of this solution applied directly in their particular application. An In-Depth study (typically performed by the Expert who first presented the Lead) can be initiated provide that information to the client.

Once the client is satisfied that there is sufficient overlap between their problem and the proposed solution(s), Fortnight coordinates direct contact between the Solution Provider and client, initiating the start of licensing negotiations.
